Activating gelatinous windows and other effects in Deepin 20 without KDE SystemSettings

Hello, the final Deepin 20 has finally been released but we still see some needs for tweaking and implementations.

I believe that some of the existing backlogs come from the development team's anxiety about abandoning KDE/KWin brands, forcing each day to expand their ecosystem and own applications.

I noticed that a new feature, released in build 1000 or 1001 was the direct configuration of the Magic Lamp effect within the Control Panel. This at first seemed to me to be a sign of internalization of kde system settings features. However, looking back at libraries and delayed versions, I saw that deepin 20's deficit in the face of Debian Buster, its base distro, is considerable. There's no way to understand why…

For now I see no reason to leave Deepin for these matters since I can get around them. So here comes a tip: how to activate gelatinous windows and other effects without using KDE System Settings?

Insert the lines below into the file: nano ~/.config/kwinrc

[Plugins]
glideEnabled=
truemagiclampEnab
led=truewobblywindows

After entering these codes that will activate the most basic effects plugins, turn the following command to activate them within KWin: ~> qdbus org.kde.KWin

Done this restart the session and be happy!

Nativifier FATAL error:setuid_sandbox_host.cc

How to fix the error in Nativifier windows as follows:

FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(157)] The SUID binary sandbox helper was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /home/user/App/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.
Trace/breakpoint trap

The above error can be viewed if the app is opened via terminal, if it opens by clicking directly on the executable, the app does not open and does not give any feedback.

To correct, perform the following adjustments:

sudo chown root ~/App/chrome-sandbox

sudo chmod 4755 ~/App/chrome-san

dboxReplace "~/App/" by application folder path.

Enabling Gelatinous Windows and other effects on Deepin 20

For those who come from Ubuntu, or other of this, and who use Compiz, one of the things that distract the head in the incessant use of the computer is to make it less square. The gelatinous windows effect is one of the most sought after and used effects, with the entry of KWin into Deepin's life since version 15.11 this has become possible.

To adjust effects on the window and other settings you will need to install an application. In the terminal turn the command bel
ow:apt install systemsettings

The KDE System Settings program will be added to the Deepin menu.

Opening this application will see numerous possibilities of modification. Take it easy, not everything can be embellished more than the Deepin 20, for example, is already by nature. However, if your hand scratches and you make too many changes that can't be reversed, you'll see in another post I've done here about how to restore the desktop.

To activate the gelatinous windows open KDE System Settings, then Desktop Behavior, after Desktop Effects and then enable Tableless Windows, today within the Candy grouping.

Several other changes can be incremented, do with caution. Be aware that some will depend on your available video card and drivers. And if you're a zebra, restore the effects of the desktop.

Restoring Deepin's original desktop after changes to KDE System Settings

The KDE customization application available for Deepin brings some cool alternatives such as gelatinous windows, customizations of themes in a deeper way, change of window layout, behavior of windows, among other possibilities n.

What no one tells you is that by specifically changing the window border theme, you won't be able to go back to the "factory default." And we all know and see how beautiful the theme and layout of Deepin Desktop is.

When you change the window frame theme, Deepin Desktop now adds large margins and side spacing stooes to all windows, in addition to the default theme title bar you chose.

To remove changes made to the KDE System Configuration add-on, you will need to remove the configuration file and restart the session. This will be enough for a new file with the original settings to be created, resuming the problem and generating a great relief and happiness.

Below is the path through the terminal of the file to be moved or deleted
:mv ~/.config/kwinrc ~/.config/kwinrc_old

Above I sent the command so that the file has its name changed.

After restarting the session, a new file has been created.

First impressions using deepin 20 a few hours ago.

I installed Deepin 20 Beta by random work. I certainly had my intention, but I wouldn't do it now with the Beta and in the midst of several projects in development. But an overheating in the SSD made me lose/corrupt many files, so hunger joined the urge to eat.

The system that is already the most beautiful, just got better. Now even more beautiful, cut and useful, with more micro functions and features.

There was an increase in new apps and existing apps have been optimized and/or improved. Like File Manager that now connects to network drives in a more practical, functional, and more resource-intensive way, fulfilling requests.

I had problems with the Kernel which was upgraded to version 5.3.0-42 shortly after installation, kept the original version and uninstalled this new one. The new version disabled the HDMI output, network ports and wifi. There were no bugs in the services, which I initially found considering to be a beta distro.

I will create an agenda and in the coming days I create a new post more useful.

It's not the case to make a recommendation, but if you ask me if I think you can install… Yes, I think they can. Back up everything and install, the danado is really beautiful.

Have you installed it yet? Leave your perceptions. You have questions, send here that we help in any way we can.
